Organisational context

Development and Empowerment for Humanity (DEH) is a non-governmental and non-profit organisation founded in 2004 and based in Somalia to work with communities to break the vicious cycle of poverty through innovative community-owned solutions to achieve long-term wellbeing. For the past 17 years, DEH has strengthened rural livelihood assets through innovative humanitarian initiatives, continuous community training, and knowledge transfer. We have responded to several humanitarian emergencies in South and Central Somalia by providing aid to the population affected by conflicts and natural crises with emergency relief, health care, nutrition services, clean water, and sustainable socio-economic programs in a multi-sectoral based approach. With Funding from Somalia Humanitarian fund (SHF), DEH is implementing a project titled: Strengthen safe access to multi-sectorial services, community self-management, and access to information through CCCM service with the improved living condition for displaced people in the Cadaado, Abudwak, and Dhusamareeb/Guriceel districts. The overall project’s objective is to enhance site-level coordination, service delivery, access to basic services and commodities, and protection for internally displaced persons (IDPs) residing in Dhusamareb/Guriceel, Cabdudwak, and Cadaado.

 

Key Responsibilities

·  Gathering of data during needs assessment, baseline studies, mapping tasks and periodic studies, and help feed back findings to project officer and stakeholders.

·   Implement activities with field staff in coordination with the Supervisor to provide CCCM support to vulnerable communities.

·  Collect data from field activities including mapping and up to date and verified data on I/NGO activities, humanitarian gaps, duplications and provide the information to the supervisor to prepare regular reports on CCCM activities

·  Ensure principle of confidentiality is ensured in all project activities

· Carry out assessment to identify context based appropriate CCCM activities for the community in consultation with the CCCM Supervisor.

·  Take account of gender, protection, the environment, and other important cross

cutting concerns while implementing the CCCM project.

· Contribute to establish a trustworthy relationship with the displaced population representatives and committees.

· Support the team in defining the methods of community participation that ensure the greatest possible participation of vulnerable groups (Age, Gender and diversity mainstreaming approach)

·  Organize FGDs to establish a representation committee in the site and meet regularly with the committee to assist them in organizing meetings, writing minutes of meeting, information sharing, training, etc.

· Work together with the representation committee to sensitize the displaced population on the different services provided by different agencies and the local authorities and how to approach them.

·  Monitor safe CCCM practices, including appropriate use and maintenance of WASH facilities and services.

·       Monitor appropriate community involvement in the design and delivery of essential CCCM services.

· Collaborate in organizing surveys with supervisor and actively participate in conducting them.

·       Ensure proper record keeping of all activities.

·     Collect data and regularly provide information updates on activities implementation.


Qualifications & Experience Required Education

· University degree in social sciences, Economics/ any other relevant field, or equivalent experience.

· 2-3 or more years’ experience of data collection, collation, analysis, and report writing.

· Strong organizational and analytical skills and ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision.

· Strong interpersonal and community mobilization skills. Highly motivated, and flexible.

·       Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Somali.

· Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel and other statistical packages (SPSS, EPI info)

·  Willing and able to be based and travel regularly within remote areas, where services are limited.
