The Role

The Nutrition Nurse will provide supplementary treatment for moderately malnourished children and PLWs. He/she is expected to provide a high standard of promoting optimum health and preventive health care, thereby contributing to a safe, efficient, and effective service to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct nutrition related training designed to teach patients and staff about nutrition, and hygiene.
  • Carry out admission and treatment to nutrition beneficiaries according to the IMAM Guideline.
  • Provides mothers and children from the surrounding community with preventative and curative health care services
  • Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity
  • Refers more serious cases to the appropriate medical facility or to a visiting medical practitioner
  • Monitor, record, and report to the doctor in charge any symptoms and changes in patients’ conditions
  • Keeps up-to-date with health care issues, particularly those issues affecting mothers and children such as health, nutrition, and hygiene
  • Maintains individual files or cards regarding each patient assisted. Keeps accurate records of all treatments, immunizations, and so on

Qualifications & Experience Required Education

  • At least Diploma in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same position.
  • Good organisation and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Fluency in Somali required.
