Organisational context

The Role

The Nutrition Supervisor will supervise nutrition mobile teams providing treatment for acutely/moderately malnourished children and PLWs. He/she is expected to provide a high standard of promoting optimum health and preventive health care, thereby contributing to a safe, efficient, and effective service to patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and functionally manage the planning and direction of DEH Nutrition mobile teams.
  • Promote community participation in all nutrition promotion activities.
  • Identify staff training needs in the program and advise essential structural adjustment needed for effective program delivery.
  • Ensure that supplies needed by programs under his/her supervision are properly managed while producing good consumption plans.
  • Carry out follow up in the OTP/SFP where possible, while undertaking periodical meetings with the CHWs for defaulter tracing and improved service utilization rates.
  • Constantly monitor the nutrition needs in the project area and propose appropriate action
  • Participate in needs assessment to establish future nutrition programs
  • Participate in the writing of timely and accurate monthly reports in collaboration with Field Coordinator
  • Participation in joint primary healthcare planning in collaboration with other NGOs and local health authorities.
  • Ensures good standards in the delivery of preventive and nutrition promoting services.
  • Supervision and monitoring of nutrition activities and programmes at outreach level.

Qualifications & Experience Required Education

  • At least a Diploma in Nursing or Nutrition or Public Health.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the same position.
  • Good organization and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Fluency in Somali required.
