As part of our continued commitment to improving community health outcomes, team members from Development for Education and Health (DEH) recently participated in a 5-day training on Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) in Galkacyo.
The training aimed to enhance participants’ technical knowledge and practical skills in identifying, managing, and preventing acute malnutrition among vulnerable populations, particularly children under five. Through a combination of interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and case-based learning, participants gained deeper insights into community-based management approaches, early detection, and appropriate treatment protocols.
Key areas covered during the training included screening and diagnosis of malnutrition, outpatient and inpatient care for severe acute malnutrition, nutrition counseling for caregivers, and monitoring and reporting mechanisms. The training also emphasized the importance of timely referrals and community engagement in ensuring effective and sustainable interventions.
