
DEH staff conducting mass screening in Galkayo, using MUAC tapes to assess the nutritional status of children 6-59 months and pregnant and lactating women. This activity is conducted periodically and complements routine screening by community health workers.
It is part of ongoing nutrition surveillance that provides proxy GAM and SAM and feeds into the cluster IPC classification to inform evidence-based responses and address malnutrition effectively.
Data is collected using the KOBO toolbox platform as guided by the Somalia nutrition cluster. Cases of malnutrition identified and that are not in nutrition rehabilitation program are referred for treatment.
