Development & Empowerment for Humanity (DEH) is a Somali led humanitarian and development organisation founded in 2004 with a mission to break the cycle of poverty through innovative, community-owned solutions that promote long-term wellbeing and human dignity. Over the past two decades, DEH has evolved into a nationally recognised actor delivering integrated, multi-sector programmes across south and central Somalia.
DEH operates within a humanitarian–development nexus framework, combining lifesaving emergency response with resilience-building and empowerment initiatives. Its core programme areas include Health & Nutrition, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Food Security & Livelihoods, Protection & Gender, Child Protection & Education in Emergencies, and Women & Youth Empowerment. This integrated approach enables DEH to address immediate humanitarian needs while strengthening long-term recovery, resilience, and community self-reliance.
